JL SPEC Class Rules
 
The new Class is a "Spec Class."
It will use low-cost, readily available chassis and bodies with "spec'd parts."
The goal is to create a closely competitive Class of cars that are inexpensive to build/race.
 
The rules are as follows:
 
§        Stock Johnny Lightning chassis will be used.
§        No armature, magnet, or gear changes are allowed.
§        Armatures may be balanced or trued
§        The Stock pickup shoes can be changed to stock copper replacement shoes e.g. American Line, BSRT, Slotech or Wizard. (No Ski type shoes)
§        Any commercially available plastic guide pin may be used.
§        JW Speed Parts "F16- Brass Wheel Weights" or equivalent will be used on the stock JL Front ends.
§        Any size front tire can be used, but must be no smaller than .350.
§        JW Speed Parts "T04 Silicone Slip-On tires or equivalent (.350 minimum diameter)" will be used for rear tires. Either the Stock JL rear rims or plastic replacement rims
§        (e.g. JW Speedparts W04 double-flanged rims) or equivalent can be used as long as they are .188 with .350 or taller tires.
§        Any rear axles may be used, rear axles may be shimmed.
§        Stock Johnny Lightning bodies will be used.
§        Bodies may be lightened and lowered. However, no cutting of
        the wheel wells will be allowed.
§        All stock windows and interiors must remain in place.
§        Grinding of the edges of the stock glass to facilitate lowering of the bodies is allowed. Side windows may be removed to facilitate easier oiling.
 
§        We do not allow replacement glass i.e. lexan, tape, etc.
§        Any screws can be used (plastic or metal) to secure the body to the
chassis.
 
TECH BLOCK width = TUFF-ONE ("Spec" class): 1.188 inch width (maximum) =  1 3/16”
 
Any controller may be used.
