Hello Race Fans,
As summer unofficially comes to an end, it is a big weekend on the ECHORR calendar.
It all began on Friday night at NJ Nostalgia Hobby with the Mike Pisano Memorial Race (See separate race report) and ends with Henry Harnish’s Labor Day “Blast.”
First a big THANK YOU to The Champ for hosting this event. And thanks to all the sponsors, in no particular order, Hiram (ECHORR Jets) Durant, Mario (M&M Hobbies) Pisano, Vic (Victory Tires) Quinones, Bryan (KRP T-jets Parts) Kisthardt, Tom Stumpf, and Randy (Randy’s Raceway) Haydt for supplying a large quantity and array for door prizes.
Special thanks to Derek Wright and JoeRinn who spent a whole Saturday updating all the computers at the raceway and everything ran flawlessly.
About 12 racers showed up Saturday for practice. I think everyone wanted to make sure they were able to get the speed out of their cars after Henry’s reminders threatened a sub 6 second lap. Also, most of Saturday’s practice seemed to be on Randolph Speedway, The Tub could wait. After practice it was off the newly renovated Mr. Crabby’s for dinner and a beverage or two.
The doors opened extra early on Sunday as the race room was half full @ 7:45. In all 30 racers turned out, including first time racers Dwayne and Jesse Suydam and Mike Currie and first time racing with ECHORR Dominic Leone.
Practice was shut down @ 9:30 in an attempt to start on time. With this many racers it was going to be a long day. As Hiram Durant introduced the drivers, nostalgia cars were called to tech.
First up was Nostalgia, Race results follow report below.
As usual there was a lot of close racing. After Nostalgia we stopped for great NY style pizza to refuel for the next race, 3 minute Super Stock Heats on Randolph Speedway, the fastest track on the ECHORR circuit.
Trophies were presented and door prizes given out and good byes were said. It seems a few people took their time leaving as if knowing summer was over. But it’s just the beginning for the fall ECHORR calendar which has some great races scheduled. See the next two races below.
