On Sunday July 8, 2018 there were seventeen racers who made the journey to Randy’s Raceway in Kutztown, PA. They all came to race in the Fifth Annual FOURTH of JULY BLAST to the PAST an ECHORR sanctioned event. The event will run all three ECHORR classes using the ECHORR class rules but different bodies on top.
On Saturday the doors opened at 12 noon for practice and about ten racers took advantage of the track testing time. After the practice a few us when out to a local eatery for fine food and spirits.
Sunday morning came around very quickly and it was time for the doors to open at 8 am. The racers started to come in and racing to begin at 10 am. The first race was the Super Stock Slip on Tire class using a Modified paper body. The first six drivers were called to the 6 lane Tri-Oval track and the racing began. Winning the race was Hiram Durant from his new place of habitat Fleetwood, PA. Second place and five laps down was Donny Auriema from Phillipsburg, NJ. Third went to Robin “ The Painter “ Schroy from Quakertown, PA and fourth was Bill Hance also from the Quakertown area. Robin and Bill both had a great run in the Slip on Tire Super Stock Class and making it into the top four.
The next event on the schedule was the Nostalgia class using a Trans-am body to be raced on the six lane Tub Track. Taking home the top honors was Henry “ The Champ “ Harnish from Randolph NJ. Missing the win by three laps there was a tie for second. Donny took second finishing sections ahead of  track owner Randy Jay Haydt. Then one lap down from second was Hiram for fourth.
The final race of the day was the Indy Car class on the Eight Lane Oval with a Hot Rod body. Managing to finish with 105 laps and securing the first place win was Henry. Hiram finished in second, Donny was third and Randy in fourth.
Honorable mention goes to Herman Farrer from Washington D.C. who had a very consistent day finishing fifth in each class.
A big thank you to everyone who helped keep the races moving along throughout the day.
Once again I would like all the racers who were there to have a great fun day of racing.
